Despite it being a challenging & difficult year for pretty much everyone I know (including myself), I had some wonderful times in 2020 with my wife and my daughter. This experience is also something very dear to my heart that happened.

My friend & old bandmate Mark Hutchins paid me a visit during the summer and I was very lucky to have the opportunity to play music with him. We got together three times and played live unplugged in my living room. Mark set up a microphone on a stand in the middle of the room and recorded the sessions.

The songs were completely improvisational, with no prior discussed set lists or rehearsals. Everything was done in one take - kind of like it always was with us many years ago. We would each just launch into a song and the other would follow. There was mojo flyin’ all over the room. It was a grand total of over 50 different songs performed. This collection only represents some of them - they wouldn't all fit on this site!

Some were cover songs we hadn't played together for over 10 years. Many were songs we have NEVER played before. There were no music pages or lyric sheets in front of us. It was just complete stream of consciousness type performing - as if there was an audience, but really just two good friends playing music together and enjoying each other's company. We were giving it all we had and making each other smile with our own eclectic - and at times very poignant - song choices.

I am extremely grateful for the experience, and feel incredibly lucky it happened during such a turbulent year. I'm also very thankful he recorded these songs. The recordings here are not "studio high quality". It's live in the room, with all the foot tapping, string slapping, floorboard squeaks included… along with the audible positive vibes we were feeling about the whole thing. Having “retired” from music 8 years ago, I rarely sing & play anymore so this was a big deal.

The ability to share these recordings with you is very special to me. I’m lucky these moments were captured. I hope you enjoy them, and I hope you all have a great 2021 new year ahead!
